About Matt Smith
My name may be familiar to you if you’ve tuned in to my Conservative Radio Talk Show, “Straight Up with Matt Smith,” out of Rapid City. During the show, I delved into political issues impacting the Black Hills and South Dakota. If you’ve listened, you already know where I stand on these matters, as I never held back and it should be no surprise why I'm running now.

For those who haven’t heard of me, allow me to introduce myself. I’ve been a staunch conservative for as long as I can remember, deeply patriotic and proud of America. My lineage traces back to American Patriots who fought in the Revolutionary War, and I proudly served in the US Navy. Beyond my military service, I’ve worn various hats: a licensed insurance agent for over 18 years, the owner of an award-winning insurance agency (including AG Insurance), and now, once again, own an insurance agency. But that’s not all—I’ve also successfully operated a home remodeling business, worked as a mortgage loan officer, and even dabbled in the world of award-winning BBQ as a restaurateur. On my personal homestead, I raise sheep on the land I own.

My diverse experiences have taught me to relate to almost anyone. As a result, I firmly believe in smaller government, lower taxes, and the God-given rights outlined in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

However, I see our beloved South Dakota losing its way. Some seek to dismantle it—whether willingly or out of self-serving motives—placing our freedom at risk. I’ve had enough of self-serving RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) who prioritize power and money in Pierre. Our RINO problem must be addressed and eradicated. South Dakotans vote red, yet the elected officials often lean blue. I’m running because I want to ensure you have the representation you voted for. I’m here to fight for your freedoms, not corporate interests. Let’s work together to transform District 30 and make South Dakota the state we know it can be!

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to this journey alongside you!
